Having a shed is almost a necessity for some homeowners, since they are key for storage and keeping the property clean and organized. Though sheds and garages can be designed to look beautiful to begin with, the priority is often just to create a space for storing things that home owners don’t want in the home, so they aren’t always the most attractive structures. If you’ve got a shed, garage, or other outbuilding on your property, here are three ways to spruce it up and make things more attractive.
1. Add a Walkway
One easy way to make a shed look more attractive is to embrace it as a structure and a destination on the property. Adding a walkway is the perfect way to do it. Since a shed or garage already needs a foundation, you might do this before the structure arrives or is raised on the property since it will be easy to pour a concrete walk. Otherwise, you could add a brick or cobblestone walk for a more quaint look.
2. Do Some Landscaping
If you already have a walkway or the location of the shed or garage will not accommodate a walkway, you might want to consider landscaping. Again, the goal here is to embrace the shed or garage as a destination on the property, not an eyesore that should be tucked away. Plant flowers near the entrance of the shed or a line of bushes around the outside to draw attention to the structure.
3. Paint and Accessorize
Garages and sheds aren’t usually focal points on a property, but there’s no reason they shouldn’t be. If you already have a walkway and have landscaped but are looking for a couple of ways to really punch things up, add a fresh coat of paint or a couple of accessories to the shed or garage like a bright new doorknob or window shutters. Anything that will draw the eye and create interest will do.
